Both parks are reachable from Watamu and Malindi and both are home to big herds of elephants — but they feel very different.
Tsavo East
One of the largest parks in Africa, famous for its red-earth landscapes and "red" elephants dusted in soil. Highlights include the Galana River with its crocodiles and hippos, and the dramatic Lugard Falls. It is the closest park to the coast — perfect for a 2-day safari.
Amboseli
Smaller and more open, with swamps that attract huge elephant herds — all beneath the snowy peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is a photographer’s dream at sunrise.
