Safari 5 Days — Amboseli, Maasai Mara & Tsavo

Itinerary

1. 1
   Day 1Amboseli National Park

   Departure from the coast around 03:00 along the Mombasa–Nairobi road, with a short stop for cold drinks, reaching Rimeto Gate around 10:00. Game drive among lions, gazelles, giraffes, elephant herds, buffaloes, zebras and hyenas.

   Check-in at our camp on the slopes of Kilimanjaro around 12:30 (bring a photocopy of your passport), lunch and a dip in the pool. Afternoon drive to Lake Amboseli for hippos and water birds until sunset. Dinner at Kibo Camp and a Maasai welcome show.

2. 2
   Day 2To the Maasai Mara

   Breakfast and departure around 07:00, game-driving our way out of Amboseli and on towards the Maasai Mara. After check-in and lunch at our camp, the afternoon safari begins.

   The Mara borders Tanzania’s Serengeti, forming a single ecosystem famous for its extraordinary concentration of wildlife and the great migration of wildebeest and zebras. Large lion prides, all of the Big Five, cheetahs, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, impalas, topis and Maasai giraffes all live here. Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.

   Day 3Full day in the Maasai Mara

   Breakfast and departure around 07:00 for a full day of game drives, with lunch at a picnic area near the Mara River. After a short rest we set off again, returning to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.

4. 4
   Day 4Tsavo East or Tsavo West

   Breakfast and departure around 07:00 towards Tsavo, arriving around lunchtime.

   In Tsavo East we stay at Ndololo Camp or Voi Wildlife Lodge and game-drive until sunset among lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and hippos. In Tsavo West we stay at Ngulia Safari Lodge, visit the Rhino Sanctuary and the crystal-clear Mzima Springs with their hippos and crocodiles.

5. 5
   Day 5Return to the coast

   After breakfast, a last game drive as we head for the park exit. Lunch stop on the way and arrival back at your village by sunset.
